Chukor Definition
Definition
The chukor is a game bird native to the island of Guam, it is also called the Guam quail, and is the official state bird of Guam. It is endemic to the island and was a vital food source and cultural symbol for Chamorro people. Sadly, the chukor is now extinct in the wild due to the introduction of the brown tree snake, a predator that eats the chukor. It is sometimes referred to as a chook or chooker in slang usage.
