graptoloidea Definition
Definition
Graptoloidea is an extinct order of colonial, graptolitic animals that lived in the late Ordovician to the Devonian period, commonly as fossils found in sedimentary rocks. They are characterized by a benthic, colonial habit, and are often morphologically intricate, with structures such as branchlets and affiliations which served to secure them to substrates or to each other.
